For Testers

Get paid to make the internet more accessible

OpenScouter connects neurodivergent people with businesses that want to build better, more inclusive digital experiences. You complete short usability studies from home and earn money for sharing your honest experience.

Each test takes around 15 minutes and pays £6. Complete five tests and you have earned £30, which works out to an effective rate of £24 per hour.

You are the expert

Your experience navigating the web as a neurodivergent person is valuable expertise that businesses need. You notice things that neurotypical testers miss. You know firsthand where websites create friction, confusion, or barriers.

When you complete a study on OpenScouter, you are not just earning money. You are directly shaping how products are built, and making the web a little more accessible for everyone who comes after you.

What you need

Getting started requires only three things:

  • Chrome browser: tests run in Chrome on desktop or laptop
  • Webcam: so we can detect moments of frustration or confusion (the raw video never leaves your computer)
  • Microphone: so you can think aloud as you navigate

No specialist equipment is needed. If you have a computer with Chrome installed and a built-in or external webcam and microphone, you are ready to go.

What a test looks like

A typical study takes around 15 minutes. You will be given a website or app to explore and a small set of tasks to complete. As you work through the tasks, you are encouraged to think aloud: say what you notice, what confuses you, and what feels easy or difficult.

Your screen, webcam, and voice are recorded during the study. The recording is shared with the business that requested the research. They use your feedback to identify and fix accessibility issues.

After the study is complete, your payment is processed automatically. There is no chasing invoices or waiting for approvals.
