Free Audit
The free audit gives you an instant accessibility score for any public URL. No account required to start. You will see where your site stands and what to fix first, in under a minute.
How it works
-
Enter your URL and get an instant score
Paste any public URL into the audit tool. OpenScouter’s AI scanner runs immediately and returns a score from 0 to 100. The higher the score, the fewer barriers your site creates for users with disabilities.
No sign-up needed at this step.
-
Review your score and top findings
Your score appears alongside the most critical findings from the scan. Each finding includes the affected element, the accessibility rule it violates, and a plain-language explanation of the impact on real users.
You can explore the findings directly on the results page without entering your email.
-
Enter your email to unlock the full report and book a demo
To receive the complete report, enter your email address. The full report includes every finding from the scan, prioritised by severity and user impact.
The results page also shows a “Book a demo” prompt so you can talk through the findings with the OpenScouter team and explore whether a full study makes sense for your product.
What the free audit checks
The audit runs an AI-powered scan across several accessibility categories. Each category maps to recognised WCAG 2.2 success criteria.
| Category | What it looks for |
|---|---|
| Perceivable content | Missing alt text, low colour contrast, text alternatives for non-text content |
| Keyboard navigation | Focus order, focusable elements, keyboard traps, skip links |
| Screen reader compatibility | ARIA labels, landmark roles, heading structure, live region usage |
| Form accessibility | Label associations, error identification, required field indication |
| Link and button clarity | Descriptive link text, button labels, ambiguous “click here” patterns |
| Page structure | Document title, language attribute, logical reading order |
| Motion and timing | Auto-playing media, animations that cannot be paused, time limits |
| Cognitive load indicators | Consistent navigation, clear error messages, predictable behaviour |
The scan covers the URL you submit and analyses the rendered page, including dynamically loaded content where detectable.
Free audit vs full study
The free audit gives you a strong starting point. A full study adds human testers with real disabilities, scenario-based testing, and researcher analysis.
| Feature | Free audit | Full study |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free | Paid, see Pricing |
| Time to results | Under 1 minute | 2 to 5 business days |
| Powered by | AI scanner | AI scanner plus human testers |
| WCAG coverage | Automated checks | Automated plus manual evaluation |
| Issues found | Detectable code-level issues | Code-level and experiential barriers |
| Tester profiles | None | Users with diverse disabilities |
| Scenario testing | None | Custom test scenarios you define |
| Video recordings | None | Included |
| Researcher report | None | Written analysis with recommendations |
| WCAG compliance statement | Not included | Available as an add-on |
| Suitable for | Initial diagnosis, quick checks | Thorough accessibility research |
Automated scanning reliably catches around 30 to 40 percent of accessibility issues. The remaining issues require a person with a disability to experience the product directly. A full study closes that gap.
Getting the most from your audit score
A score of 100 does not mean your site is fully accessible. It means the scanner found no automated violations. Real-world usability with assistive technologies depends on factors that only human testing can reveal.
Use your free audit score to:
- Identify the highest-priority technical fixes before committing to a full study
- Benchmark your site against a previous version or a competitor’s URL
- Build a case internally for investing in accessibility improvements
- Decide whether you need a targeted study on a specific flow or a broader full-site study
If your score is below 70, a full study will surface a significant number of issues beyond what the audit reports. If your score is above 90, a full study will focus more on experiential and assistive-technology-specific barriers that automated tools cannot detect.
